things have been pretty hectic and i'm having projects and stuffz
not to mention, work.

so our work got exhibited at Futrescape, where all the year 3s were exhibiting their FYPs
i felt so proud of us!!!

went to the Science Centre about a week ago?
for school, duhhhh
didn't get to see the CSI exhibition though
the place didn't change for years cause all the things are placed where they were years back

and our clique's bbq was 2 days back
was pretty fun, if not for the fact that it rained when we got there.
played with sparklers and ate ate ate

so imma post pics of what i've been going through for the past 12-odd days

monica and i made these really pretty cappuccinos. we were really bored and since the foam was good, we drew random drawings on them ;D
aren't these deserts cute? it's from this desert buffet resto at Bugis.

and the buffet is limited to one hour. so they literally had timers placed on each table informing us when the time'll be up

went to this restaurant called Just Acia at Downtown East yesterday
THE PLACE WAS SO AWFUL IT PISSED ME OFF AT LEAST 3 TIMES
wanted to eat mutton soup but my mom wasn't feeling well so my dad intro-ed this resto and said its good to have a change
so my grandma HAD to tag along (pretty pissed w my dad when he came up with that idea)
call me evil or w/e but sometimes i just don't like to bring my grandma to new places i've never been to
cause i don't know what to expect and how to bring her around that place
so, long story short, my dad had to drive twice to bring our whole family there
we got a seat that was all the way at the back of the resto, and my wheelchair-ed grandma had to walk all the way in, holding onto the back of people's chairs and their tables
we swtiched seats to somewhere better
and the menu wasn't very suitable for my grandma
and so i arrived pissed and i left pissed-er

the kitchen's my new hangout/office now
cause it's kinda quiet and has a decent chair and table for me
i used to sit on the floor in my room, having a small coffee table to put my table
and it honestly wasn't very comfy
anddddd sometimes i come to the kitchen to cook and need some advice or recipes
so i just place my laptop and google some stuff

it's actually about Purity Versus Impurity. the Apple represents purity (or maybe even virginity? hehe) and the lady/model seems to be holding out an apple. her hands are tattooed, making her seem as she's rebellious. rebels and tattoos are kinda seen as impure. and my artwork kinda says that no matter how impure you are, there is still some kind of pureness in you, & even some part of you would be finding for purity

it some kind of new-age shopping mall

the class went there for interaction design
and we went there just to see a new type of trolley
which is the future cart
it's some kind of lcd screen that would show promotions and info about the items you pass by in the supermarket
for the lesson, we had to redesign a trolley for the 21st century

the final product wasn't what i thought it would be

i cant type right because my faci's yakking non stop
talking about some project he's doing and half the class is using their laptops
the other half isn't in class yet
the yakking is so distracting!

“Father!” howled Tama itang, as tears rolled down his brown chubby cheeks. The boy covered his ears with his shaking hands, running away from the terrible noise. The sounds of razors cutting through trees and awful weird sounds of the yellow machine crushing everything in its way, it all scared him. Little Tama itang regretted running away. If only he were with his father and the tribe right now. If only...

The day before...

“Faster!” Tama itang’s father nudged his son’s hands. The 5 year old hated to weave the rattan backpacks. Why couldn’t he join the other kids? They went all day hunting with the elders, while he had to stay and weave backpacks with his father. You’re too young, you’ll hurt yourself, tama itang recalled what his late mother said as he sulked. Even Mother thinks he’s not up to it, will Father even allow him to go hunting?

“Go help elder Ajan. I’ll finish this for you.” Father said and tama itang’s face lit up. Elder Ajan was the eldest person in the tribe and tama itang loved him. He liked to play with the elder as he was the only one who understood him. Ever since Mother passed away, elder Ajan was the only person in the tribe who could tolerate his nonsense. There was once when tama itan tipped the sago flour while he tried to “dance” and entertain the tribe, and the whole basket fell into the fire. Everyone in the tribe ignored him for ages, except for elder Ajan. He shook his head and told the boy, “Not all attention is good. Try helping your father, and you might receive the attention you should get.”

“Elder Ajan!” tama itang adjusted his loin cloth that barely covered his privates. Father promised him he’d get a new one if the tribe managed to hunt down a bearded pig bear. He spotted the elder and immediately went to help him. Elder Ajan smiled and handed him the bow and the stick.

“There’s no fire!” tama itang panted as he tried all his might to start the fire. The elder laughed and stopped the boy, then proceeded to show him how to do it.

“It takes patience, my child. That’s one thing you lack.” Sparks flew and the flames danced on the firewood. “Get more firewood for me, tama itang.”

Later that evening...

“Eat your squirrel, tama itang. It’s good for you” Father said as he roasted another for himself. The whole tribe was gathered around and everyone chewed quietly, so quietly that they could hear the animals of the night.

Elder Ajan cleared his throat and announced, “Tomorrow, we will be moving again. The government said they’re going to start logging this part of the forest.” Many adults sighed and some headed back to their huts, claiming they had to appetite.

Tama itang shrugged. He didn’t understand why people would want to destroy the forest. The forest gave the tribe all they needed. A place to stay, food, hunting materials and even entertainment! Why destroy something they treasured and lived in? Why destroy their home?

Next day...

“No! I don’t want to leave!” tama itang pouted. “I want to stay with Mother!”

“Come, son. Everyone is ahead of us. We have to go or the loggers will come and hurt you.” Father dragged the boy’s arm as they followed the rest of the tribe. Tama itang then wriggled free and ran back from where he came from, and ran deeper into the forest than he ever ventured before.

He finally stopped when he could no longer hear Father’s voice.

“I will be here with you, Mother.” He whispered as he clutched his darhad, the only weapon he had and the only thing his mother left him.

Tama itang sat down on the warm soil until someone will eventually come and get him, as always. Deep down, no matter how many times tama itan threw a tantrum, Father or Elder Ajan would go to him eventually and forgive him.

As tama itang waited, he felt the ground beginning to tremble. He frowned and got up, clutching his darhad just in case. He then heard a loud groan from something non-human, something foreign. It’s the loggers! Tama itang recalled hearing this sound the last time the tribe moved, and the loggers were near their land. Mother told him to remember the sound of the evil monster destroying their homes. It’s them! What should he do now?

He heard rumbles and the ground kept shaking. “Father!” he howled. Tama itang wiped the tears from his face as he ran away from the sound, shouting for Father. Soon his cries were drowned by the logger’s machines. His tears blurred his vision and he tripped over a stone.

“Father...”

“I’m here, son. Don’t be scared.” Tama itang felt lightheaded and passed out.

Later that evening...

“Father I promise I will never run away from you again. I promise I will behave and listen to all my elders.” Tama itang sobbed, hugging Father.

“Poor child. I hope you learnt you lesson.” Father patted his son back. “I also promise to pay more attention to you. Elder Ajan told me everything”

Just then, Elder Ajan winked at Father, and then left quietly from their hut.

i wrote this story for my art of story field trip. i don't really wna post the pics i got cause i feel weirded out after seeing them.

for this trip we actually went to the Ancient Civilizations Museum or something, and my hair stood on its end most of the time. up till now im still bothered by the artefacts i saw, partly because their old and ancient and scary looking :/

i think the ending of the story was kinda off, and not enough, but it took me bloody lots of research! but i did it all within 3 hours so yay!

“Joelle Ng?” the receptionist called out my name.

I stood up, tried to flatten the stubborn creases on my new Laura Ashley business suit (latest casual summer edition!) and went towards her. The receptionist’s eyes went down and up, and down again, focussing on my originally white shoes.

Finally she gave me a disgusted look and said, “I don’t think you’re up for this job.”

“What? Please, give me one more chance. I was stuck in a flood and it ruined my suit and shoes-“I pleaded

“I’m sorry,” she cut through my words, “this interview for fashion magazine sub editor requires good fashion sense, and 50% of the interview is based on first impression.”

“Excuse me! How dare you say that! I have all the fashion sense in the world, and even Nina Garcia can’t beat me! I’m too good for this interview anyway!” As I turned to walk away, I flicked my long curls (specially done for this interview) right in her direction.

Punching the buttons, I saw a cute guy, wearing smart casual wear. Tall, handsome, and an A+ for fashion sense, I tried to catch his eye. He caught mine, and winked! Wow, this day might not be the worse day after all! Suddenly being stuck in a flood for 2 hours and being late for an interview didn’t bother me anymore.

The lift door opened and I remembered my mantra – chin up, tummy in, butt up. Feeling full of myself, I strode in. Before I knew it, I lunged forward, almost falling. My new Gucci shoes got stuck between the gaps of the lift! How embarrassing!

Thankfully the only people who saw it was the lady infront of me, looking graceful and immaculate, and the cute guy.

THE CUTE GUY! He must have seen everything!

“Let me help you,” said the graceful lady, and she pulled me into the lift. My heel broke, and the cute guy picked the heel and handed it to me. Before I could give my sweetest thank you, he started snogging the graceful lady.

My jaws dropped literally, and fom the 8^th floor to the 1^st, I stood my back against them, too embarrassed to look back.

but when i ate at marina sq's i instantly regretted
the staff here wasn't as efficient
1. they didn't offer to clear away our used plates (that were stacked awkwardly at our already crowded table)
2.they didn't refill the empty buffet table thingy
but i guess i couldn't blame them cause there were so many customers (many of them were NS men EEEW!)
but at tm i could laugh as loud as i wanted and not many people would turn and look

oh oh there was this lian-ish girl sitting beside our table with her friends
she had a nose piercing like the ones like the cow has, across the nose kinda piercing
AND ZOMG IT ENHANCES HER OX-Y-NESS LOOK!
without it she would already have looked like nu mo wang's daughter (this ox demon famous in chinese myths)
i was like secretly laughing at her

im having anthro and its so boring and i dislike this one girl in my team so i just blogged

I WATCHED DATE NIGHT WITH NURFAH THIS WEEK!

Tina Fey so did not look like herself on the poster. at first i thought she was just another old hag. and thought that this is some silly cliche switching body dates and stuff and in the end the girl and guy switch back to their own bodies and they end up in love or something. but the movie was kinda okayyish. the starting was pretty boring but through the middle, it starts to get funny. kinda not worth watching on screen but maybe on dvd whatever.

gosh i feel like a movie reviewer from some magazine. i wna have that kinda work so i can just do nothing but watch movies and gossip about them. cheers to couch potato job!

school started this week and it's kinda sucky cause it starts on a thur. im beginning to think that RP's more screwed up than i thought it was.

my classes have pretty random timings, like 12 to 4, 8 to 12 and 9 to 4. IT AINT FAIR THAT SOME OF US HAVE CERTAIN DAYS OFF! but like rachell with the L at the back said, life isn't fair. BUT I AM! ;D

first day of school was :/ ish cause i had drawing and it started at noon. plus i didn't have to bring my laptop since all we needed was my fucking huge A2 drawing block and drawing materials. i feel kinda awkward coming to RP without my laptop cause, it just isn't right. AWKWARD TURTLE! we drew for 4 hours in some exhibition hall without tables. so everyone either crouched around the hall or sat on some uncomfy chairs. HAHA TO GIRLS THAT WORE SHORT SKIRTS HOPING TO SEDUCE GUYS ONE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. SEDUCTION FAIL! i finished drawing after 2 hours of randomly arranging basic shapes for 50 times (we had to draw 50 templates using circles,squares,rectangles and triangles, only using each shape once in every template) everyone was totally fml cause we did nothing for the next 2 hours. laptops not allowed somemore :/

2nd day of school was kinda okay cause it ended at 12! i think my faci's gay cause she has that butch look? but i seriously hope she is. uber awesome! history of arts was boring and stressful cause we had to rush our articles and stuff but other than that twas okayy

went for the coffee bean upgrade AGAIN. its silly how we have to take tests just to increase 20cents in our hourly pay :/

the train journey was around 6 hours. i sat till my butt ached and my bladder felt like puking! i really hate the toilets there cauze they'll freaking dirty. they have like pee all over and it's seats are scarred with cigarette bud thingys. and the stench is wayyyy worse than Sg's MRT toilets.

it's like pitch black outside. so dark i could even style me own hair while the makciks are looking! is that how you spell makciks? idk.idrc

i drank this teh-C special. it actually has 3 colors! woah factor! the top is like milkish white, the middle is tehish colored, and it has a blackish greenish bottom. i used to think it was jelly or something. but it's like chin-chow sugar syrupp or something. i'd love to tarrpoww for my lovely friends but you know, nothing lasts forever ;P

erm. i didn't exactly take photos of the bride and groom cause i don't really know them. but the bride is really really pretty! she's only 21 and she came from indon. her whole family came and im surprised they did a fully chinese wedding in malaysia. the in-laws looked abit out of place cause they aren't really familiar with chinese tradition. but the whole family looks pretty! the bride has one elder sister, one younger bro and another younger sister. the best thing is the whole family looks alike so they kinda look like those russian dolls that pop out and look alike but just different sizes.

when i was in malaysia i was so fucking bored i actually bought a gossipy,paparazzi-sourced magazine. was pretty boring cause i don't really know alot of american/european celebs.

was stung by many many many mosquitoes. i think the mosquitoes are fatter compared to singapore ones. and if you're eating, anywhere, there's always company. company of houseflies and mosquitoes. eeew.

but the food there is good though. better than the ones here. even if they don't look as good as compared as here.

ohoh did i mention that the wedding dinner wasn't as good as i thought? i wished they had the wedding in JB. it'll be so much classier and stuff., that restoran lee keng sang had such lousy audio. i think they only have 2 speakers. which are placed about 4 metres away from my table, in the corner. they blasted the music so that the whole restaurant could hear the songs sung by random neighbours. BOOMZ NOISE POLLUTION. they have some sort of karaoke by the neighbours the whole time we had the wedding dinner. :/

the singing kinda scared my autistic cousin and the started screaming. my heart goes out to all autistic kids and their families :'(
when we came home we had to take the class 3 bunk. cause my uncle wanted to save money and he bought my family class 3 tickets for the train ride. it was so horrible i dont think i'll ever want to sit class 3 stuff again. the ventilation was bad and the people there were practically coughing into each other's face. i don't blame them for coughing but PUHLEEZE AT LEAST COVER YOUR MOUTHS! everytime anyone coughed or sneezed i actually covered my own mouth and tried to hold my breath for 10 seconds. eeeeeeewwwwy!

i finally saw baby! haven't seen him for like a month or so. it's true that absence makes the heart fonder. his bike is awesomely pretty, black and red. :/ i wish i can ride a bike too. but yay! seeing him makes my week much better :)
